Tasteful Character For Family Living
Garden renovations a hit.
This turn-of-the-century character home has a tasteful extension and is filled with modern surprises. The current owners have lived in the home for 10 years, singling out the larger north-facing living areas as their favourite features, as well as the open plan design, which was devised by Subiaco architect Suzanne Hunt. “We moved in when our son was three months old and now we have two children – aged seven and 11. It has been a great family home, especially with the largest park in Subiaco and the end of our street. The separation of parents’ area and living area also works well,” they said.
It provides an oasis from the chaos of the outside world
The owners enlisted award-winning landscapers Haughty Culture to undertake an extensive garden renovation three years ago, which saw the back yard transformed to highlight the grand jacaranda tree planted more than 100 years ago.
“We removed a kidney-shaped pool which cut the garden in half, and designed a modern garden that opened up the back of the property and created an outdoor room,” the owner said. “This garden has hosted parties, family celebrations and quiet reflections. It provides an oasis from the chaos of the outside world. At Easter time we bring in extra tables and 20 people enjoy a long table lunch under the shade of the tree.”
