Leederville formed part of Boorloo, tribal land belonging to the local Nyungar people. Lake Monger, or Galup as it was known, was used by the Aborigines as a camp site. The current suburb of Leederville is bounded by Britannia and Anzac roads, Loftus Street, Leederville Parade and the Mitchell Freeway.
