More Stupid Rules
So, now the Town of Cambridge have banned verge pickups and are now telling everyone they have to get a skip bin. Who made that one up? The skip bin company? Well how good is that going to look having skip bins on every verge?
Having big trucks going up and down your street picking up skip bins? Have you ever tried to get a sofa into a skip bin? And what happened to recycling? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, remember? Isn’t this what we are all aiming for… trying to reuse and repurpose items so we can help the planet? I believe verge pick ups are brilliant – they’re good for everyone – people trying to get rid of things they don’t need, and people finding things that they do need, but maybe can’t afford to buy.
And let’s watch what happens now – one council has done it, so now all the other councils will follow, like sheep, and so much good furniture will end up in landfill.
It’s really quite frightening these days how we are all being so regulated, and if we don’t stand up and fight these decisions, it will go too far and any individualism will be lost.
Nothing seems to follow logic anymore and there is no consistency to anything. The State Government are trying to create jobs and sustain employment, so why not, just for starters, get rid of payroll tax? A tax they charge companies for employing people – if you really think about that – it’s crazy, and they only get away with it because most people don’t even know it exists, and the people who have to pay it are too busy trying to keep their companies afloat to fight it.
Anyway – enough ranting – what’s happening on the Real Estate front? It’s going crazy – probably because of the backlog of buyers from Covid-19, but also because investors are out and about again – if you have money, there’s not much point in having it in the bank right now. It’s not quite like 2006 when prices went through the roof – buyers are still being cautious about how much they are paying, but there are multiple offers on most properties and the turnover is rapid – so if you see something you like, you have to be quick! Same with the rental market – that’s also buoyant with multiple applications. So, all is good here in the west, and we have to be extremely thankful that so far, we have escaped the onslaught of Covid-19.
Take care everyone.
